Gathering to Give
Donation event to benefit the Oakland Schools Homeless Student Education Program

Like a silent epidemic, the number of homeless children in Michigan schools is growing. In the  2010-11 school year, more than 31,000 homeless students attended school - 8,500 more than in the previous school year, a 37% spike attributed to the weak economy, loss of jobs and the foreclosure crisis. Overall, the number of homeless students in Michigan has jumped more than 300% in the last four years.

5:00-5:45 PM, Dharma Talk
6:00-7:00 PM, Practice with Heidi
7:15 PM YOGAWOMAN PREMIER

We start the evening with a Dharma Talk about Hanuman, the ultimate symbol of service and how Seva (selfless service) is an integral part of our sadhana.

A playful practice will follow. The virtues of gratitude and giving will be weaved throughout.

The YOGAWOMAN documentary is narrated by Annette Bening and chronicles the generation of women yogis who are strong, inspiring, and radically changing people’s lives.

Never Underestimate the Power of Inner Peace

Suggested donation: $20.00, cash or check made out to Oakland Schools.
